Maryland-raised rapper Cordae is angling to have one of the best hip-hop albums of this year’s first quarter, announcing the tracklist to his upcoming release, From A Bird’s Eye View. Arriving over two full years following the release of his Grammy-nominated debut album The Lost Boy, Cordae faces a lot of industry pressure to successfully come through with another impactful body of work. In anticipation of the album, Cordae recently hopped on the beat of Kendrick Lamar‘s « The Heart Part 4 » and delivered « FABEV Freestyle. » He also shared in previous interview with HYPEBEAST that he has experienced a lot of growth between The Lost Boy and From A Bird’s Eye View. « As a person, I feel like I’m a lot more honest with myself, » he said. « I’m very self-reflective, self-analytical. I’m aware of being more empathetic as a human being, just having knowledge of oneself, ultimate self-confidence. What I’ve been working on now is the definiteness of action, my execution. »

Fragments is the most emotional album that Bonobo (aka Simon Green) has recorded and a confirmation of his great talent. Born out of fragments, sketchy ideas, sonic experiments, the album gained its final shape in a creative exaltation, a process in which Simon’s escape into the wild nature helped. One of the most important creators of the electronic and dance scene, Bonobo has made several Grammy nominations, nearly a million records sold and over a billion streams. His latest album « Migration » reached the top of the « Billboard’s Dance Album » charts and hit the bestseller lists in several countries. The British, who has lived in Los Angeles for many years, has collaborated with artists such as Erykah Badu, Ólafur Arnalds and Jon Hopkins and created remixes for Michael Kiwanuki, Gorillaz and London Grammar. Fragments is another proof of his artistic development – 12 sonic revelations, great dance grooves and moving songs that bring joy and hope. Bonobo managed to find a balance between the depth and honesty of the message, and the musical, production artistry. Until now, Green has been working on the move, on the road, in hotel rooms, on the road; the global downtime, however, forced him to stop in one place and change his approach to the creative process. The British admits that he found new strength and inspiration while communing alone with the nature of California and Utah. Simon finally had time to experiment with modular synthesizers, which gave the Bonobo sound a new touch. Harpist Lara Somogyi and arranger / violinist Miguel Atwood-Ferguson also brought a lot of freshness. The song « Tides », featuring Chicago singer and poet Jamila Woods, acted as a catalyst and the album began to build up around it. « I realized I had a focal point and felt what it would all sound like, » recalls Simon. While working with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, new musical themes started popping up, and recording sessions with orchestral musicians in real studios made the loose sketches take shape.
